When it comes to finding a used GMC Terrain, there are a few important model years to keep in mind. The first is 2018, when the Terrain launched its second generation. At its debut, the second generation included three available four-cylinder turbocharged engines, one of which ran on diesel fuel. Notably, 2018 also brought substantial upgrades to the Terrain’s interior technology, including a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability and four USB ports. In 2021, however, the diesel engine was dropped, and by 2022, as part of a mid-cycle refresh, the engine was standardized as a 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder setup.
GMC introduced the Terrain’s third generation for the 2025 model year, which included wholesale changes both inside and out, including a more truck-like exterior. Meanwhile, the infotainment screen grew to 15 inches diagonally, and an 11-inch driver information center was added. The engine was just about the only thing carried over from the second generation, and it remains available in three trim levels, including an eight-speed automatic transmission, with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive available.
