With a spacious cabin, ample cargo space, and tons of standard tech and driver assistance items, the Nissan Rogue is perfect for a family or anyone seeking practicality and value in their next vehicle. How much space does it have, exactly? Most Rogue model years represented in used inventories boast more than 30 cubic feet of storage with all seats in place, up to nearly 75 at a maximum. That doesn’t take away from what it offers its five passengers, as its rear seats have nearly as much legroom, headroom, and shoulder room as is offered to the front. Meanwhile, the standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 offers six technologies, including lane departure and blind spot warnings, while high-end standard and available infotainment options help provide a pleasurable journey. On top of all of that, the Nissan Rogue is a fuel efficiency powerhouse for a gas-powered SUV, with recent models topping 30 combined miles per gallon.*

The vast majority of vehicles that you’ll find in any used Nissan Rogue inventory come from its well-received third generation, which lasted from 2021 through 2026. The highlights of the 2021 model overhaul included an update to the powertrain, including a more powerful 2.5-liter, four-cylinder base engine, as well as a muscular, angled, and more truck-like appearance, and technology updates like an eight- or nine-inch Nissan Connect touchscreen, a welcome upgrade from the low-resolution seven-inch version on previous models. Almost immediately, in 2022, Nissan again upgraded the base engine to a 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces 225 lb-ft of torque (up 24 percent).
The Rogue also received a significant mid-generation refresh in 2024. Tech was once again at the forefront here, including an available 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen with native integration of Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. The most recent Rogues have also improved connectivity and introduced enhanced interior material options.
The available trim levels of the Nissan Rogue vary from year to year, and from generation to generation, as do the specific features found in each. However, here are a few of the trims that you’ll commonly see in used vehicle inventories, as well as things they typically include.
Though the entry-level trim, the Rogue S has generally included the engine that’s standard throughout the lineup, most commonly a 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder setup. Its eight-inch NissanConnect touchscreen includes seamless smartphone integration, thanks to Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ functionality, and the included Safety Shield 360 suite boasts cutting-edge assistance features like Rear Automatic Braking, Blind Spot Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. There are even a few extras not typically seen at this level like USB ports and a push-button ignition. In short, the S trim is a value-packed vehicle that hits every essential for a comfortable and safe drive.
Many shoppers in the Buffalo area and throughout Western New York lean towards the Rogue SV, as it’s widely considered the ideal blend of value and features. One big reason for that is Nissan ProPILOT Assist, a hands-on, semi-autonomous driving system that first becomes available here. An optional panoramic moonroof is also among the new items introduced in the SV trim, and other enhancements include a wi-fi hotspot and four USB-C ports (up from two), ensuring that everyone inside can stay charged and connected at all times. The sound system receives a nudge up as well, to six speakers.
The Nissan Rogue’s SL trim is where things make a clear move up in luxury. The cloth seats of the S and SV models now become leather, and they’re also heated as standard. The NissanConnect touchscreen jumps up to 12.3 inches on the newest versions, and also includes navigation. Similarly, the wheels also grow, up to 19 inches. There are 12 available paint colors with the SL, double what’s offered on the S, and though that might not be of paramount importance when shopping for a used vehicle, it will certainly have an impact on what you find when searching through inventories.
The upper-crust Rogue Platinum truly pulls out all of the stops. That’s certainly true of the seating, which is upholstered with semi-aniline leather, with the available Platinum Premium package offering heating for those in the second row. Like the Rogue SL, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen is included; unlike the SL, it’s connected to a 10-speaker Bose® premium sound system. Its smartphone integration takes things to the top level with Google Built-In (including Maps and Assistant), while visual enhancements like a chrome grille and LED lighting announce its presence.
