Giving Back to Those Who Serve

Buffalo, NY – The Basil Family Dealerships has partnered with the Veterans One-stop Center of Western New York and the D’Youville Veterans Student Association, along with WGRZ, to launch the fourth annual “Vehicles for Vets” campaign; a summer long promotion in which a veteran or active serving military member can win a new vehicle. The public may go online to www.basilcars.com/vehiclesforvets beginning Memorial Day Weekend, May 25th, and nominate a veteran or active serving military member close to them who they believe deserves a new car from Basil.

Each week, one nominee will be chosen at random, and their story highlighted on WGRZ-TV. During the final week, the ten random finalists who were selected will be invited to Riverworks for our Vehicles for Vets Giveaway Party on Wednesday, August 15th. There will be a final random selection for the winner of the vehicle. The winner will receive $21,000 in Basil Bucks towards any new or used vehicle from Basil and the person who nominated the winner will receive $1,000 cash!

Throughout the promotion, Basil is making a donation for every vehicle sold to the Veterans One-stop Center as well as the D’Youville Student Veterans Association. Last year, Basil raised nearly $50,000 and hopes to achieve that goal again this year.

The D’Youville Student Veteran Association is dedicated to supporting and providing a welcoming community to all veterans, military-aligned students, and their families. Making up roughly 25% of the student population, more veterans enroll on D’Youville College than any other school in Western New York. D’Youville’s nationally recognized Student Veteran Association provides resources, grants, and programs for veterans, spouses, and their children.

“I think one of the greatest pleasures of being here,” said Benjamin L. Randle, Jr, Director, Veterans Affairs Office, “is that the school has since its inception way back in the early 1900s, been a very, very veteran-friendly school.”
